4 Jun 2019 by Laura Bond

Friday marked the end of the 2019 Australian Junior League Championships and we are very proud of the performances of both the Adelaide Seahawks and Adelaide Rays.

At the end of pool play, our teams were seeded 2nd and 4th respectively and fought hard for finals spots, with the Rays making the bronze medal game streamed live Friday afternoon.

BRONZE MEDAL GAME RECAP:
Adelaide Rays 4, Eastern Athletics 0

Jordan Hodges worked a complete game shutout to help the Adelaide Rays claim bronze in front of their home crowd.

Hodges finished with 11 strikeouts in seven innings as the Rays wrapped up a 4-0 win on diamond one.

Lachlan Spratt brought home two runs for Adelaide and Hodges and Taj Kite also collected RBIs.

Spratt’s second-inning double opened the scoring.

He doubled again to put the Rays up 2-0 in the sixth.

Hodges then doubled to score Spratt before Kite’s single gave Adelaide a four-run buffer.

James Squire had a strong outing for Athletics, working all six innings.

Congratulations, Rays!
